This campaign dedicates programming, education and partnerships toward the goal of advancing local, state, regional, and national policies and legislation that keep children's health, wellness, safety, security, and education as a leading priority. Children First campaign projects:

• Unified Training System - Department staff facilitates Indiana's Unified Training System, which supports the statewide coordination of training activities related to early childhood education, and provides greater access to learning opportunities for families and service providers.
  
• Medical Home - The American Academy of Pediatrics Medical Home curriculum is taught to resident physicians through various activities included in two residency rotations.
  
• Children First Luncheon - Annual luncheon is presented during the Multidisciplinary Child Care Conference for physicians. Luncheon features a keynote speaker addressing leading issues impacting children.
  
• Special Care Sitter Program - A training program for teens who have graduated from the Safe Sitter program or other comparable babysitting program that provides training, resources, and information on providing babysitting care for children with disabilities or special health care needs.
  
• Child Advocacy - Department staff serves as a member of the Council on Child Advocacy of the National Association of Children's Hospitals, the Children's Coalition of Indiana, and also coordinates advocacy efforts for the hospital.
  
• The Right Question - Parents and caregivers are taught how to ask the "right question" for healthcare, education, and sports activities for children.
  
• Hoppin' For Health - Preschoolers and kindergartners learn about taking care of themselves; visiting a doctor's office, clinic, or hospital; appropriate vocabulary and location for basic body parts; and common medical instruments and procedures.
